Time to cook:
30 to 40 minutes

Ingredients

  • 1 cup Eggs – Room Temperature
  • 1 cup of Milk – Room Temperature
  • 1 Cup of Flour – Room Temperature
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1TBSP Cooking oil

Instructions

Prepare the Batter:

  • In a large bowl, combine the eggs, milk, flour, and salt.
  • Whisk by hand for 2-3 minutes until most of the flour lumps disappear.
  • Allow the batter to rest in the bowl for at least an hour.

Strain the Batter (Optional):

  • For a smoother texture, pass the rested batter through a fine sieve to remove any remaining lumps.

Preheat the Oven and Pan:

  • Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).
  • Divide the cooking oil evenly among the cups of a muffin tin or Yorkshire pudding pan.
  • Place the pan in the preheated oven and let the oil heat until it starts to smoke.

Bake the Yorkshire Puddings:

  • Once the oil is hot, carefully remove the pan from the oven.
  • Fill each cup halfway with the batter.
  • Return the pan to the oven and bake without opening the door for 15 minutes.
  • After 15 minutes, reduce the oven temperature to 325°F (165°C) and continue baking for an additional 10 minutes.

Finish and Serve:

Remove from the oven and serve immediately with your roast.

The Yorkshire puddings are done when they have doubled in size and are golden brown.

Final thoughts

Yorkshire puddings are a classic British side that can be a bit finicky but are well worth the effort. The key to perfect Yorkshire puddings is ensuring your batter is well-rested and your oil is hot enough to give that initial puff. Straining the batter helps achieve a lighter, fluffier result, though it’s optional. Remember not to open the oven door during the initial baking phase, as this can cause the puddings to collapse. With these tips, you should have beautifully risen, crispy Yorkshire puddings that are perfect alongside a roast or as a tasty treat on their own. Enjoy the delicious results!
