Rockin’ Robyn’s
Overview
Well, a Saturday evening drive for Fish & Chips got diverted. We wanted to try a new British Chippie in Edmonton called Lawtons Fish & Chips. We pulled into the parking lot it was full. This is unusual for a strip mall with nothing open except a Fish and Chip restaurant. We did a drive-by and decided to head deeper into the city. We headed down Mayfield Road, saw the sign, and turned in.
The sign said Rockin Robyn’s Diner, we have had breakfast a few times before it was always good. Tonight, we decided we would try it for supper.
Review
Monica and I walked in, they had about 25 ppl in this 60-seat diner. You will notice the dessert counter as soon as you go in. Homemade desserts, something that you don’t see anymore, beautiful homemade pies and cakes.
Entering into the restaurant, we were greeted by a server who quickly got us a table, I also noticed a specials menu board. We sat down, went over the menu, and ordered.

I was craving homemade French Fries, and with the chippy blocked, I was pleasantly surprised the diner had homemade fries.
Our server took our order. Monica ordered the Cajun Chicken Sandwich with coated fries poutine. I ordered the OG Burger with bacon and fresh cut fries and gravy, we decided to split some onion rings.
The onion rings were about a minute overcooked, crunchy, seasoned. These were not homemade, but they gave us lots. We were still on our last onion rings when our burgers came out.

Monica’s Cajun Chicken Burger was a grilled chicken breast, it didn’t seem to quite cover the bun, it was thick piece of chicken. She said it tasted good and the poutine was excellent with real cheese curds.

My Chicken Burger was homemade, but the same as Monica’s it was a bit thick, both burgers could have been butterflied for better bun coverage. I was a bit disappointed with the fries, they were not blanched (precooked in different temperatures oils) usually 3 different stages. The burger tasted great; the gravy was homemade.

We had our supper, and both enjoyed our meal. Once we finished our meal, we were offered the dessert menu. Monica decided on taking a piece of Blueberry Pie home. We both tried it a verry good pir with a light flaky crust and lots of filling. The filling was homemade not out of can or pail.
Final thoughts
This little diner has an awesome vibe with all the old memorabilia, and we enjoyed our supper. They do a great job to make you feel like you are back in the 50s/60s. Its funky, its got swagger and its got good quality food that’s homemade which you don’t find anymore
We really enjoyed supper here, I was a little disappointed with the fries, but the Blueberry pie made up for it, we will return, on a side note the breakfasts are very good.
