Granville Island Part 2, The Market
After our lunch on Granville Island, I headed over to the market. This was my first time on Granville Island so I was new to this market. What really caught my eye was the vendors and how busy the market was at 3 pm. Lee’s Donuts was rocking with a line up for almost a block long. As you entered the market your senses were alert with the sights and smells and tastes.

The variety of the produce with berries and fresh fruit, vegetables give shoppers more choice than any grocery store. There were some good deals on lots of the produce. The stalls were being continually filled, arriving later in the day wasn’t a deterrent as they had lots of variety.

Fresh Seafood and shellfish lined a couple of the isles. There was no fishy smell from these vendors, insuring top quality seafood.

Freshly Cut Steaks and Kabobs were available from multiple vendors.

Here are a few of the varieties of Lee’s Donuts, the Apple Fritters were all sold out. So no donuts for me.

It seemed that each section of the market had a variety of fish, produce, meat and cheese items prepared. One of my favourite stalls was the fresh pasta vendor. I had a friendly hockey conversation with a die hard Canuck fan, chirping about the Oilers. Always nice to wear your teams colours in opposing fans home turf.

I only got to spend about an hour at the market. I wish that I had a whole day to spend there. Next time we are in Vancouver I will be bringing back items that I can’t get in Edmonton. As markets go it’s on the same level as St Lawrence in Toronto and Jean Tallon in Montreal. As markets go this place was a 10.
